Shantti privacy policy
Shantti is published by Arkyn Labs, a sole proprietorship based in Chennai, India. This policy covers the Shantti Android app. Last updated: 6 October 2026.
Your account
When you open Shantti for the first time, it asks whether you want to sync your settings. Only if you agree does the app create an account for you, using anonymous sign-in. You are not asked for an email address, a name, or a phone number, and none of those are collected at any point.
What leaves your device
Shantti sends the following to its database, and nothing else:
Your account id (created by anonymous sign-in), a random device id generated on your phone, the deities you have chosen as companions, the city you select for local panchangam calculations (not your device's GPS location), and two display preferences: font size and language.
The deities you choose are religious belief. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, religious belief is a sensitive category of personal data. We are naming that directly: your choice of deities is sensitive personal data, and we store it as such.
Where it is stored
The data listed above is stored with Supabase, in Supabase's Mumbai, India data center (region ap-south-1). Supabase acts as our data processor. We do not run our own servers for this data.
How long we keep it
We keep the data listed above for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app, your settings and the account itself are erased from our database straight away. If you ask by email instead, we aim to do the same within 7 days.
To stop the delete function being misused, our server notes the time of each deletion attempt against your account id. Those notes are erased together with your account.
What never leaves your device
The deity companion conversations run entirely on your device, from templates and classifiers bundled in the app. They make no network calls. The panchangam (calendar) is calculated on your device with an astronomy library. Gita verses and quotes are bundled in the app itself. Reminders are local notifications scheduled by your phone. None of this is sent anywhere.
What Shantti does not do
Shantti has no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising id. It does not access your location, contacts, photos, or microphone. It contains no ads or analytics SDKs. We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
Sharing
Shantti has a share button that opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. This only happens when you tap it. Shantti does not send anything to WhatsApp, or anywhere else, on its own.
Signing in
Today, every Shantti account is anonymous, created only if you agree to sync your settings, with no sign-in step. Shantti may in the future offer an additional, optional way to sign in, such as a Google account. Signing in is never required to use the app, and it never will be.
Deleting your data
Deleting your account deletes the account itself, not just the preferences on it. There is no partial deletion. If you sign in again afterwards, you start as a new user with no history. See how to delete your account.
Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Turning off sync in Settings stops Shantti sending anything new, but keeps what is already stored, so that turning sync back on reconnects you.
To withdraw your consent fully and have your stored data erased, delete your account: in the app, go to Settings, then Delete account, or email contact@arkynlabs.com. After that, Shantti keeps working offline on your phone and asks again before it syncs anything.
Children
Shantti is not directed at children.
